How To Pay Fines

You may pay online: see the Pay Online menu item on the left and follow the instructions. The Court accepts VISA and MasterCard as a method of payment.

Parking Tickets

Parking tickets are to be paid at the Parking Ticket Violation Bureau located at the Wadsworth Police Department. If you have been made aware that the ticket is now filed with the Court, then contact the Court before your court date for the amount to be paid.

All Other Fines

If you are not required to pay fines and court costs through probation, fines and costs may be paid in person or by mail through the clerk of Courts. To pay in person go to the Clerk's office in the Municipal Court (directions). This office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, however no payments are processed after 3:30pm. Fines and costs paid in person may be paid in cash, check, money order, or by VISA or MasterCard. To pay by mail, send a check or money order, but please do not send cash. Be sure the check or money order is payable to the "Wadsworth Municipal Court". Also be sure you clearly mark on the check or money order what ticket or case number the payment is for and mail the payment to:

Wadsworth Municipal Court
Clerk of Courts
120 Maple Street
Wadsworth, Ohio 44281

Note: Before you pay a waiver, make sure that the ticket shows you had proof of insurance and the ticket is properly marked. Otherwise, you need to appear in Court to show proof of insurance.

If the court is not open, you may pay fines and costs at the Wadsworth Police Department. Make sure you have the case number or ticket available for proper credit to the case. Please be advised that if you pay at the Police Department, you must have exact change. The Police Department can not make change. This is only an option if it is not past your Court date.

If you are paying a traffic ticket, please carefully follow the instructions on the payout schedule given to you with the ticket to determine the correct amount to pay or call the Court. Keep in mind that the clerk's office must receive your payment by the due date stated on the ticket for the amount paid to be considered correct and paid on time.

"Time to Pay"

When a court imposes a fine, it often will allow the fine and costs to be paid on a later date by granting "Time to pay". If so, the fine and costs may be paid anytime before, or on, the time period given in the previous section. If the amount due is not paid on the time, the judge can be expected to issue a Capias requiring the arrest and incarceration of the defendant until the fine is paid or "served" in jail at the rate of $50 per day. If you chose not to pay the fine, you should expect to be arrested and incarcerated until the fine is paid, or the jail time is done. See also what happens if you don't show up for court.

Fines and Other Amounts Paid through Probation

If you are paying through probation, all fines, costs and fees must be paid by mail or in person to:

Wadsworth Probation Department
120 Maple Street
Wadsworth, Ohio 44281

Questions should be addressed to your probation officer. The general number for Probation is 330-335-2758. If paying by mail, be sure you clearly identify what the payment is for.
